The Orchards
THE ORCHARDS Holiday Caravan and Camping Park, Newbridge, Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, PO41 0TS (Tel: 01983 531331)
This superb, five star, camping and caravan park is undoubtedly one of the best we have seen on the Isle of Wight - and it's open all year round!
Awards include the David Bellamy Conservation Award, the English Tourism Council Rose Award for luxury holiday caravan accommodation (won every single year since 1983!), Green Island Gold Award 2006, and AA Premier Park listing. Additionally, according to their literature, The Orchards is the only Caravan Club affiliated site on the Isle of Wight.
The park is situated amidst glorious rolling countryside in the village of Newbridge - just a few miles inland from the ancient and picturesque town of Yarmouth.
It's a beautifully quiet spot, yet within easy reach of the south coast beaches (Freshwater Bay and Compton Bay) and many of the island's best visitor attractions such as The Needles, Alum Bay, Carisbrooke Castle and Newtown Creek.
Exploring the 15 acre site, we noted a variety of modern caravans, large and small, within the original apple orchards. All the vans were well spaced, those beneath the trees enjoying welcome shade on the hottest days.
Well spaced holiday caravans
All caravans apparently offer toilet, shower, fridge, heater, colour TV, video and microwave. Some even have central heating - ideal for those chilly autumn and winter days! And the 'Sovereign' caravan is specially designed for wheelchair users and those with walking difficulties.
For campers, touring vans and motor homes, there are six gently sloping paddocks, most with fabulous views over the surrounding countryside.

The pitches seem of generous size, and all have electric hook-up. Some even have water and mains drainage.
Apart from the well kept grounds, were very impressed by the on-site facilities. These include a superb indoor, heated swimming pool (open all year round!) with adjacent licensed coffee shop,
a heated outdoor pool (late May to early September),
children's play area,
TV room, games room, launderette, take-away food bar, and a well-stocked, licensed shop.
