The Model Village at Godshill
The Model Village at Godshill is one of the best Isle of Wight attractions. It's a complete 1:10 scale model of the entire village (plus nearby Old Shanklin village) as it was in the 1920s and '30s, complete with working model railway and sound effects. We just loved it!
The entrance is on the bend of the High Street in the heart of the village, but you'll need to park about 200 yards away in The Old Smithy car park (free of charge), opposite The Griffin Hotel.

The entrance
The village is open from March through to November each year. All paths are suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs, so it's ideal for all ages. Modest charges apply.
The following pictures will give you some idea of the delights that await you.

The Griffin Hotel

The High Street and church

Model of All Saints Church with the real church behind! (Listen to the church organ playing as you walk around.)

Model of The Model!

The Monteagle Hotel - complete with little people and cars and old-time dance music wafting from the ballroom. Such nostalgia!

Upper Chine School for young ladies. Delightful!

Shanklin Station - complete with working model trains

Shanklin Chine
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope you will too. So much hard work has been put into its construction and maintenance by past and present owners, Penny Dyer and her father, Robin Thwaites, they can be justifiably very proud of their achievement.
