Steephill Cove now offers a licensed cafe
Steephill Cove, arguably the prettiest little beach on the Isle of Wight, at last has a licensed cafe.
The well known Beach Cafe, situated immediately above the beach at the far end of the bay, is now serving bottled beers and wine to accompany your meal! This is seen as a major improvement and will no doubt bring more and more customers to the cove.

The Beach Cafe
offers a good selection of salads and sandwiches, all of which are freshly prepared to order, plus homemade cakes and puddings and New Forest ice-cream. We ordered fresh crab sandwiches last Monday (6th April 2009) and were absolutely delighted! The bread was fresh, the sandwiches were absolutely bulging with freshly caught, local crab (white meat!), the salad trim was generous and crisp, and finally - the finishing touch - we each had two whole king prawns balanced on top! An excellent meal - all washed down with well chilled, bottled beers. Most enjoyable.

Steephill Cove is, without question, our favourite place on the island - and judging by the number of people we have seen there this year, many others think the same! However, if you want to get there, you will have to walk. It can only be reached on foot, and although it's easy going down to the beach, bear in mind that going back up can be fairly strenuous!
There are two main routes: you can walk across the cliffs from La Falaise car park in Bath Road, Ventnor, or you can park at
Ventnor Botanic Garden
and walk down to the beach from there.
Many people fall in love with this pretty little bay at first sight - and they return again and again. And for some, it becomes the place to spend their holidays. Fortunately there are several
holiday homes
within the bay, but these are very, very popular - so you may have to book for the following year!
