Let's Explore Seaview

Seaview is a much-loved, pretty little village on the north-east coast of the Isle of Wight, UK.

Looking south from the Esplanade

It is best known as a sailing centre and is often buzzing with activity as keen young sportsmen take to the water in much-loved, highly varnished dinghies.

A short, narrow Esplanade runs along the seafront where you can look out across The Solent towards Portsmouth. You'll find a couple of cafes here where you can sit and watch the world go by.

Alternatively you can follow the wide seawall which continues north and south forming a walkway to the beaches.

The sea wall and beach to the south

If you are looking for a safe, sandy beach, this quaint little village is perhaps not ideal, but you'll always find plenty to watch here, and at low tide there are wonderful rock-pools to explore!

The village itself offers a variety of Edwardian and Victorian buildings and some highly recommended restaurants such as the ivy-clad Seaview Hotel in the High Street.

In the same road (in the corner of the following picture) you will find The Copper Kettle - a very popular teashop where you can enjoy traditional morning coffee, lunches or afternoon teas.

The High Street

Just round the corner from The Copper Kettle is Pier Road in which you'll find a Post Office, a newsagent and a good-sized car-park (the best place to leave your car).

From here, if you walk down Pier Road, away from the village, you will come to Seaview Bay, a seemingly private bay overlooked by newly built holiday apartments. Here fishermen while away the hours while local residents launch boats down the slipway.

But if you continue past the apartments and the fishermen you'll come to Seagrove Bay, another of the island's secrets, accessed on foot alone.

Seagrove Bay

There are no facilites at Seagrove Bay and the beach is predominantly pebbles, but if you fancy 'getting away from it all' it could be just the place!
