Waverley Park Holiday Centre
This location for your Isle of Wight park holiday is ideal if you want to be near Cowes and all the boating activities on The Solent.
Situated on a gently sloping site in East Cowes, Waverley Park overlooks the sea and is within easy walking distance of the Red Funnel terminal (so you could come here as a foot passenger!).
As you see from the above photo, Waverley Park Holiday Centre not only offers static caravans and holiday flats for your park holiday, but also accommodates campers and tourers within the grounds. We noted that the static vans were ideally placed to benefit from the site facilities, whereas the field for campers was further away.
Apparently everybody shares the same facilities within the park: these include a heated, outdoor swimming pool (Whitsun to September), launderette, dishwashing facilities, showers, bar and restaurant.
The owners strive to achieve a family oriented atmosphere throughout the park, ensuring that all enjoy themselves. They organise evening entertainments, bands, discos and bingo evenings. We've not experienced any of these, so cannot really comment.
The view towards Cowes and The Solent from Waverley Park is lovely, and there is direct access to a children's play area near the sea and a pebbly 'beach' of sorts at the end of the lane leading directly from the camping field. Don't forget, the 'sea' here is in fact the estuary of the River Medina, where all the ferries, yachts and other boats pass by. Do not expect a sandy beach like at Sandown!
