Walk the Wight returns to raise vital funds for the Island's Hospice. Registration is free, but compulsory. Tel: 01983 528989 or register online.

Fairy Festival at Blackgang Chine.
6th and 7th May 2012
A special two day event to celebrate all that is magical about the fairy kingdom. Would-be fairies and their friends are welcome to join in!

Wolverton Manor Folk & Blues Fair .
Saturday 12th May 2012
In aid of Leukaemia Research and Brighstone School.
After a sell-out successful launch in 2011, Wolverton Manor, Shorwell will once again provide the stunning backdrop to this exciting Island event.
The live music stage will provide a full programme, featuring the best of the Island’s Folk & Blues musicians, from acoustic duos to full electric bands, including Beachcomber, Lucid, The Whisky River Band, Scarecrow, MoonShiners, Rachel’s Reason, Grizzled Skipper, Jamie Griffin, The Herd and The DollyMopps.
With an IW real ale beer tent, BBQ, Tea tent serving cream teas & cakes plus children’s activities, and even a Zumba workshop, Wolverton Folk & Blues Fair looks set to be a celebration of all that’s good about our Island’s local food & music talent.
Admission: £5 (£6 on the gate). Children under 12, Free. Advance tickets available from: The Village Shop, Brighstone, Shorwell Shop, Briddlesford Farm Shop, Waterstone’s bookshop, Newport.

A cycling, canoeing and running charity event (supporting Wessex Heartbeat) in teams of three

Yarmouth Old Gaffers Festival 2012 .
25th to 27th May 2012
Throughout this year's festival Yarmouth's picturesque harbour will be filled with life and colour as more than 100 traditional sailing, steam and motor vessels visit, including the cream of the Old Gaffers fleet. On shore, a huge range of attractions for all ages.
