Isle of Wight campsites:
Whitefield Forest Touring Park

One of the best Isle of Wight campsites lies hidden within Whitefield Forest, just south of Ryde.

It is clearly signed off the main A3055 Brading Road, about half a mile south of the Tesco roundabout.

Isle of Wight campsites: Entrance to Whitefield Forest Touring Park

Created, owned and managed by just one family, Whitefield Forest Touring Park is unlike any other campsite on the island.

The owners, Pat, Simon and Louise Glover, together with other members of the family, purchased the land, then literally cleared swathes of forest, built new roads and landscaped the pitches in order to create what you see today.

What a fantastic achievement!

We were particularly impressed with the toilet and shower block - which was also designed and built by family members. The building is of timber construction (so it blends into the surroundings beautifully), and it is heated and tiled throughout.

When we visited, everything was spotlessly clean. We noted individual sink cubicles for extra privacy, electric razor points and even hair dryers!

We also noted a well equipped laundry room - complete with tumble dryer and iron - and washing up sinks.

The facilities for the disabled are also excellent.

Whitefield Forest Touring Park offers a mixture of hardstanding and grassy pitches, all with electric hook-up and all of good size. They are well spaced within clearings in the forest, ensuring that visitors enjoy seclusion, shelter and privacy.

Also within the trees lies an adventure play area for older children. And dog owners will be pleased to find a variety of walks leading through the trees and beyond.

Whitefield Forest Touring Park is well located within easy reach of the island's best beaches and the island's best visitor attractions. In our opinion the park is of very high standard, and everybody concerned seems anxious to ensure that your stay will be a relaxing and enjoyable one.
