Isle of Wight campsites:
Chine Farm

This is one of two Isle of Wight campsites on the south coast of the island that we recommend. You will find the entrance between Chale and Brighstone on the main A3055 Military Road.

Chine Farm Camping Site is under new management this year (2008) and a great deal of work has been done to improve facilities.

Isle of Wight campsites: Entrance to Chine Farm Camping Site

As campsites go, Chine Farm is still comparatively basic, but we've included it in our recommendations because of the improvements already made, and because of its superb location.

The campsite itself stretches all the way from the A3055 Military Road right to the very edge of the cliffs overlooking the English Channel. The ground is fairly level and electric hookup points are available for those requesting them.

There is only one toilet block, but it's of reasonable size and it is sited more or less at the half way point. Newly refurbished, this now offers flush toilets, wash basins with hot and cold water, free showers, hair drying point for ladies and shaver point for men.

You will also find a washing up room and new facilities for chemical toilet disposal. And, in the first field nearest the road, a children's play area has been constructed.

If considering this campsite you should be aware that the land really does go right up to the cliff edge and the drop to the beach is about 40 feet. So families with young children need to take care!

There is no direct route to the beach from the site, but there is a pathway within a few minutes walk.

Alternatively, why not enjoy a walk along the coastal path towards Freshwater and the Needles. The views are amazing! And the pretty villages of Brighstone and Chale are only two and a half and three miles away respectively.

The main farmhouse and Reception (where you must check in) are situated on the opposite side of the road. There you will also find a small shop for your basic needs and details of the laundry and freezer pack services offered.
