Hello!
THANK YOU for visiting my website. I hope you are finding the information provided interesting and helpful.
If you're wondering who writes all this stuff about the Isle of Wight and why, you've come to the right place!
This is me. My name is Linda.
I suppose my story begins in the autumn of 2005. My husband and I had officially retired, our Wiltshire home was under offer, and we were house hunting. We didn't know exactly where we wanted to live, but we did know we wanted to be near the sea.
Eventually, after several weeks of fruitless searching along the south coast of England, we decided to search the internet. Up came an assortment of properties - including several on the Isle of Wight.
Isle of Wight?
We hadn't even thought of that! We simply had to pop over and investigate! And that was it, really. It only took one visit. We just loved it.
It was April 2006 when we finally moved across to the island. Life was great that first year - and so was the weather! We were out and about nearly every day and we had BBQs nearly every night. We explored every inch of our new homeland and we even bought a little boat with the remainder of Alan's 'lump sum' and had great fun learning to sail in The Solent. Life was just one long holiday.
But despite our carefree appearance, we both knew that sooner or later one of us would have to find another job. Oh we had planned for our retirement, of course we had, but unfortunately the stock market crash after the millennium had virtually wiped out my private pension fund. So, like many others who retired around the same time, we were facing the future with a fraction of the income we had planned and saved for.
So the quest for a part-time job began. Preferably something I could do working from home ....
After weeks of searching local papers and the internet I came across an interesting website from a Canadian company called SBI (Site-Build-It). It was suggesting that I could make money on the internet by building my own website and writing about things I know and love. And it didn't matter if I couldn't write HTML or use fancy software, all necessary tools would be provided.
This proposal struck a chord with me. After all, I'm no techy, but I do like writing, I like photography and I love the Isle of Wight. Put these three together and perhaps, with SBI help, I could produce something worthwhile - and make a few bob too, of course.
And so it came about. My very own website. And I'm thoroughly enjoying myself doing it. SBI takes care of all the technical bits, so all I do is write and upload my own photos using the tools they provide.
It's no get-rich-quick scheme, mind you. Quite the opposite! I've put hours and hours into this site already. But I'm doing something I enjoy, and I'm writing about something I love, so that's a pretty good way to earn some extra money, I think. And all along the way SBI have helped me at every step.
I've tried very hard to follow the SBI instructions to the letter and it has certainly paid off. The number of visitors to my site has grown steadily every month, and my 'income' has grown steadily as a result. What income did you say? Well, at the moment I'm earning income from the various Google Ads you see scattered around the site. If anyone clicks on these, I earn money. I also have an online shop which I plan to improve by offering books and maps and other relevant goods. And who knows what the future may bring? There are so many options open to me now I've got my own site.
There are thousands of people around the world who, like me, have built a successful online business with SBI. And I've befriended and actively linked with some of them on my Holiday Links page. All of us, for one reason or another, need extra income. And we've all managed it with SBI. Some, I gather, have even made enough to quit their 9 to 5 jobs! I don't think I'll ever be in their league, but I'm more than content with my progress to date and can certainly recommend the SBI system.

Well, now you know all about me and why I'm creating this website. It's an ongoing project, don't forget, so if there's something you would like to know about that I've not yet covered, just drop me a line. You can use the form on this page, or the 'Contact Me' page, and I'll get right back to you.
I look forward to hearing from you
